How do I know my camper is registered?
Once registered online, each camper will receive an automatic email securing their spot in camp. Please ensure your email is spelled correctly, as this is the camp's main form of communication after registration. There may be a chance that our email has landed in your spam folder.
What if my child is sick, and I need a refund or transfer sessions?
Camp refunds are available up to the NON-REFUNDABLE deposit before camp starts. Your balance (minus the deposit) may be refunded before camp begins. In cases of injury, injured athletes must show documentation from their doctor of their injury (injured athletes will be refunded a total amount minus the deposit for each camp). NO REFUND will be given for cancellations made less than one week before the beginning of camp unless we receive a note from a doctor. If you need to transfer sessions, don't hesitate to contact us. We will try to work it out as long as space is available in the new session. Other charges could occur if the switch is made within two weeks before the original session. Note: NCAA rules require university camps to adhere to the stated refund policy. Exceptions aren't allowed and would trigger a compliance violation on the school and the camper. If a camper has to leave campus due to Covid, an illness, or an emergency, the refund returned will be prorated minus the deposit, housing, and food.
If Baylor cancels due to COVID-related facility closures, government mandates, or other circumstances, you will automatically be issued a full refund.
These policies are in place to account for camp fees associated with each registration that is made in advance of the program. Camper waives any damages that may otherwise arise from any camp cancellation and agrees to accept as liquidated damages said registration fees.
If a positive test is confirmed within our summer camp, the Camp Director must disclose a positive case to all camp counselors and participants (without identifying the individual). With universal masking and proper distancing outside of athletic activity, any potential exposure is likely to be deemed low risk, and the camp can likely continue after disinfecting facilities and equipment used; however, Campus Health will provide direction if further action needs to be taken regarding the status of that particular summer camp.
When is the final payment due?
Payments may be made online through your account on Active, and the final payment is due one week before camp starts.
Where are the forms I need to complete?
All forms are electronically signed online during online registration, including the medical form.
Do you honor roommate requests?
Roommate requests may be made through the online registration application. We do our best to assign compatible roommates based on age. Roommate requests must match and are not coed (boys must room with boys and girls with girls). Penland has very few three-bedrooms available, and requests for these rooms will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Who should I speak to if my child has a severe food allergy?
Please let Camp Director Jacqui Haddock know.
May my child bring food and water to the dorm rooms?
Yes. Coolers and snacks may be brought as long as the camper cleans up afterward.
What are the skill requirements for camp?
Per NCAA rules, our sports camps are open to all entrants. Enrollment is limited only by age, grade level, gender, and capacity restrictions specified by each camp. Campers are evaluated and work in groups based on age/skill level.
What type of campers attend this camp?
Our camps are open to any and all levels of tennis players. We have players from absolute beginner to high school / Tournament level. We design our camps to teach the technical basics and love of the game to the beginning player, to introduce strategical decision-making and more advanced techniques to the intermediate player while building on their current stroke production, and to put the advanced players into pressured, strategical and competitive situations.
What is the ratio of campers to staff?
Groups will be divided into small instructional groups of approximately 5/6:1 camper to one coach/counselor.
Who are the counselors besides the Baylor coaches?
Our camp counselors are a combination of Baylor Students, Baylor Coaches, high school coaches, and other student-athletes competing or who have competed in tennis at college. All have had experience working in camp settings or with minors in general. Experienced, mature male and female staff provide 24-hour supervision. All employees have passed an extensive criminal background check and child protection training conducted by Baylor University Human Resources Department.
Are campers supervised at all times?
All instructors and dorm counselors will undergo an extensive background check and child protection training through Baylor Risk Management and Human Resources. Adult supervision is provided 24 hours a, including on-court, outside activities, and in dorms.
Will there be a trainer on-site?
Yes, we have a certified Baylor trainer at the tennis courts at all times.
What is your inclement weather plan?
We are fortunate to have six beautiful indoor climate-controlled courts that we will access should the need arise.
